Crystal Egelkamp

Building Policy Associate

Crystal Egelkamp is the Building Policy Associate at MEEA. In this role, Crystal tracks building policy developments, develops educational materials and provides technical support to states and localities on efficient building policies and the energy code adoption process.

Prior to joining MEEA, Crystal worked as a sustainability consultant with the independent consulting firm MIST where she helped local organizations and municipalities develop and track sustainability targets around energy efficiency, carbon reductions and net-zero planning. Previously, Crystal interned with the Illinois Green Alliance, the Illinois Community of the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC), where she created educational materials and trained volunteers on topics such as energy efficiency, city benchmarking and building performance standards. Before working in the sustainability world, Crystal worked as an educator and scientist in several zoos studying primate cognition and behavior.

Crystal has a B.A. in Animal Behavior and Environmental Studies from Franklin & Marshall College. In her spare time, Crystal enjoys reading, traveling, hiking and spending time in nature.
