Please join MEEA on March 7, 2023 from 11:00 am-12:30 pm CT to hear from Jason LaFleur with GTI and Zak Paine with Slipstream as they discuss new and existing workforce development around the installation of heat pumps. The two will touch on full load heat pumps, dual fuel heat pumps and gas fired heat pumps, and how the training for these three pieces of equipment differs (e.g., the different knowledge or skillsets that contractors need to have for installing each of them). As the use of heat pumps becomes more prevalent, the need for qualified installers must also be addressed.

There are many ways to cut down on energy and costs when it comes to buildings. One path is to focus on a building's lighting and HVAC systems as these account for roughly 60-70% of a typical building's total energy consumption. New lighting technologies such as LED fixtures, daylight harvesting, demand response, and task tuning strategies have led to significant energy savings. Similarly, advances in heat and cooling equipment efficiencies, water and air flow distribution systems, and HVAC control systems have led to improved occupant thermal comfort.
