Gov. Snyder awarded for energy waste reduction efforts by MEEA

Gov. Rick Snyder was recently awarded recognition of his efforts to reduce Michigan’s energy waste from the Midwest Energy Efficiency Alliance this week.

He was nominated by Mary Templeton of the nonprofit MichiganSaves, and supported by Patti Poppe, president and CEO of CMS Energy and Consumers Energy. Snyder’s efforts include his signature of a comprehensive energy reform package that linked energy waste reduction to the state’s future, creation of awards to recognize those who reduce energy waste, passage of multiple laws to ease performance contracting pressures on public entities, and advocacy for a new low-income energy program.
