John Nicol is an Energy Program Director with Leidos, formerly SAIC Engineering, with more than 32 years of experience in energy efficiency related fields. During this time, John has served as Energy Research Engineer at the Oak Ridge National Lab; Technical Manager for Wisconsin Electric’s Smart Money program; consultant for energy efficiency projects in Romania, Latvia and Belorussia with a special focus on industrial and commercial district heating networks; industrial energy efficiency consultant to staff offices at the United States House of Representatives; Program Director for Ameren Illinois Act-On-Energy; Program Adviser for the Hawaii Energy program; Program Director for ComEd’s Smart Ideas Process Efficiency program and Program Director for Wisconsin’s Focus on Energy Industrial and Large Energy User programs. Nationally, he has worked closely with the U.S. Department of Energy, U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, American Council for an Energy Efficiency Economy, and Consortium for Energy Efficiency, in addition to many electric and natural gas utilities.
John is a registered professional mechanical engineer in the State of Wisconsin and holds an M.S. in Mechanical Engineering and a B.S. in Environmental Engineering from the University of Illinois at Champaign-Urbana.
