Savings Through Efficient Products (STEP)

According to the Dept. of Energy, an average building wastes about a 1/3 of the energy it purchases. The Savings Through Efficient Products (STEP) self-install program helps public facilities to start saving money and energy right away without any upfront investment, while simultaneously learning about next steps in becoming more energy efficient.

Qualified Illinois public facilities receive both a free facility audit and free energy efficient products to start saving energy.

Sign Up to Save Energy in Your Facility

Do you represent an Illinois public facility? STEP serves a limited number of public facilities each year, so please sign up today.

Note: Signing up for STEP does not commit your facility to participate or guarantee STEP’s ability to accommodate your facility.

STEP Participation Process

  1. Schedule and conduct a free facility walkthrough assessment
  2. Receive and install free energy-saving products shipped to your facility
  3. Complete the Installation Verification Form
  4. Discover additional incentives, rebates, programs and educational opportunities
