Review of ACEEE Report

Over the last few years, utility energy efficiency programs and building energy codes activity have exploded in the Midwest .  Since 2007, four new states have adopted new energy efficiency portfolio standards (ACEEE 2011)  - a total of seven states have mandated rate-payer energy efficiency programs - while seven states have adopted the 2009 International Energy Conservation Code (IECC) for residential dwellings, ASHRAE 90.1-2007 for commercial buildings or both.

Solid-State Lighting (using LEDs) presents both a risk and an opportunity for utility incentives programs.  While LEDs are rapidly becoming a feasible technology for achieving maximum lighting efficiency, high costs and uncertain performance have hampered the adoption of LED measures into lighting incentives programs.  The DesignLights Consortium is the Northeast Energy Efficiency Partnership’s national program that takes much of the guesswork out of identifying quality LED

Learn about MEEA's work developing the collaborative, statewide Illinois Home Performance with Energy Star program, the first comprehensive market-based residential retrofit program in Illinois.  This effort involved coordinating with Illinois utilities as well as government agencies and other nonprofits in order to make a sustainable program that will encourage homeowners to invest in home energy upgrades and support contractors and auditors who perform these services.
