Small Commercial Building Energy Efficiency: Research for emerging control and energy management technologies

ComEd seeks proposal submissions for a market research project which will inform ComEd’s strategy for engaging small commercial buildings on emerging control and energy management technologies. The primary goal of this effort is to conduct research to support development of a plan to improve energy efficiency in small commercial buildings using controls. Small commercial buildings are notoriously challenging because most do not have a control system to manage operational energy use from HVAC or lighting loads and they may not have onsite facility management staff to respond to service requests and monitor equipment and energy performance. Specifically, ComEd is interested in emerging building control technologies, which may include cloud-based software solutions or modern IoT devices that can be deployed in smaller buildings, like smart thermostats.
