The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) recently launched a new pilot within the ENERGY STAR program. “Most Efficient 2011” recognizes products that are the most energy-efficient in their categories among those that have earned the ENERGY STAR label. In 2011, refrigerators, clothes washers, televisions, and heating, cooling and ventilation equipment are included in the pilot. The new designation of Most Efficient aims to provide manufacturers with an incentive for greater product energy efficiency while providing consumers new information about the products that comprise the top tier in the categories.
