The Alliance to Save Energy, a Washington, D.C.-based nonprofit organization that promotes energy efficiency, is offering a free webinar on energy-efficient lighting on two dates in January.
The webinar is specifically designed for those who sell and engage with the public on lighting products, as well as for staff of utilities and nonprofit organizations.
Webinar presenter Joe Rey-Barreau, an associate professor in the College of Design at the University of Kentucky and an education consultant for the American Lighting Association, is an architect and lighting designer with over 25 years of experience as a design professional.
In a 20-minute presentation followed by Q&A, the webinar will:
-
Arm participants with the accurate information they need to dispel fears about the new lighting standards that will be phased in beginning January 1, 2012;
-
Give participants the tools to help consumers navigate the array of lighting choices currently on the market;
-
Describe how energy-efficient lighting can save consumers money and enhance the beauty of their homes.
It also will prepare retailers and others to answer consumers’ questions, such as:
-
How do I choose the right bulbs for the different applications in my home?
-
Are all home lighting products covered by the new energy-efficiency standards?
-
Are incandescent bulbs being banned?
-
Do I have to replace all the bulbs in my home?
-
How much mercury is in compact fluorescent light bulbs?
Funded by the U.S. Department of Energy, the webinar is free of charge and can be accessed by a toll-free phone number. Once you register you will receive the instructions for calling and logging in to the webinar.
We look forward to your participation. If you have any questions, please contact Ronnie Kweller at the Alliance to Save Energy: rkweller@ase.org; 202-530-2203.
